My Dream List

Here's what I have for now on my list of Dreams To Do. Let the journey begin!
  • Start a Blog:  Yay! I can check one thing off already! :-)
  • Find my Calling in Life:  I'm nearing the end of my 20s and I still have NO clue what my passion is or what I truly have to offer this world. Hopefully this little ole blog and this little ole dream list will help me get there eventually.
  • Take a photography class:  Hubby & I recently purchased a beautiful Canon Rebel T2i... I am in love, but I don't really know how to use it. Yeah, I could read the manual or the lengthy book I bought, but I'd rather sit in a classroom and be forced to learn about ISO and aperture (both of which I have no clue as to what they are... yet).
  • Get my craft on more often: Growing up I LOVED arts & crafts - and I still do! I just find that it is hard to fit fun projects in with work and kids keeping me busy. So, I'm taking baby steps with my monthly DIY projects.
  • Start cooking "real" food for my family:  I am a boxed mac 'n cheese kinda gal. Quick. Easy. Unhealthy. That tends to be my style. BUT, I know that isn't right. My kiddos deserve to eat high quality food made with love by their momma. My hubby is actually an AMAZING cook, but he works late 4 nights of the week, so on those nights it is up to me. SOOOOOOOOOO, I wanna make more of an attempt to at least cook a good meal once/week (and then have leftovers).  To start with anyway. This will be an ongoing Dream To Do.
  • Take a fitness class/get my ass in shape:  Sure I am skinny, but that does not mean I am in shape. And that does not mean I don't have cottage cheese on my bum. I have never been and probably will never be an athlete. I am uncoordinated and have no motivation. BUT, I want to try. My problem is most likely that I have just never found anything active that I enjoy doing. I am determined to do that. My biggest obstacle is just finding the time to make this happen.
  • Have another baby (or 2 or 3): Like I said in my About section, the only life dream/goal I have ever been certain of is that I wanted to be a mom. So, why would I stop at just one? Leila needs a sis or bro or two, so I can't wait to add to our growing family. Update: Baby #2, Landon Drew, arrived on October 21, 2011!!! So, for now I'm crossing this off the list... maybe we will revisit in a couple years. ;-)
  • Be an extra in a movie: Really I have no clue as to what goes into being an extra, but I've just always wanted to do it just so I can say I was in a movie. Don't you think that would be a fun thing to be able to tell people? Preferably a movie with Johnny Depp or Brad Pitt, k?
  • Work from home (preferably for myself somehow): Going back to work full time when Leila was 12 weeks old was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. It actually caused me physical pain (mainly in my engorged boobs). Now that she is older and I've been back at work for a couple years, it has gotten easier, but it is still hard. I love my job, I love interacting with my co-workers, but I would rather be with my babies. However, I would go CRAZY if I didn't have something to do for myself while I was home and if I wasn't contributing financially in one way or another. That is why I first need to figure out what I can do from home and then I just need to bite the bullet and go for it. I plan on doing lots of experimenting and researching over the months ahead.
  • Work less, be with my family more: Hey if the previous option doesn't work out for a while, I at least would like to go part time at my current job so I can spend more time at home with my kiddos. I look forward to being able to take them swim class in the mornings on a week day, make their lunches, make sure they get a good nap... all of the things I can't do now.
  • Make and sell jewelry: I am artist and I love crafts. I've dabbled in different things: I don't really like sewing (too frustrating), I hate scrapbooking, knitting is painful... the only thing I ever really turned into a hobby was making these pretty tatted bead bracelets and selling them on the side. I eventually got too busy to keep up with the hobby (it took me at least an hour just to make one bracelet by hand). So, I am determined to find a form of jewelry I can make FAST and maybe sell on the side. This could be my work from home opportunity! Update: I've purchased some supplies, but I still haven't found the time to get to work - I will soon!
  • Take vitamins daily:  For the life of me I can't remember to take a friggin vitamin every day! And, since my diet isn't the greatest I feel this is necessary. Wish me luck. Update: Since becoming preggo with and delivering Landon I have been diligently taking my prenatal every day (ok, well maybe not EVERY day).
  • Volunteer in Africa: When I was in college I spent a month in the Dominican Republic with a volunteer organization. I can easily say that it was the best month of my life. It opened my eyes up completely to the "real world" and allowed me to see how little people actually need to be happy. I would love to experience the same thing somewhere in Africa... that way I can go on a safari, too. :-)
  • Master "The Secret" (i.e. The Law of Attraction): A few years back my mom gave me the book The Secret, and I love the concept and the ideas presented in it... but, I SUCK at implementing positive thinking in my own life.
  • Make a quilt: I love homemade quilts and I wanna say that I've made one! One to pass down through my family and be cherished by many generations. Sure, it may end up being a tiny baby quilt, but I'm ok with that! Update: Quilt Completed (see these posts)
  • Read the entire bible: I have always wanted to read the whole bible, but I have only gotten through some of the New Testament and some of the Old Testament. I would consider myself a very young Christian. I still have a lot to learn, but at least I love Jesus! Now it is time to follow through.
  • Become a Coupon-Clipping Queen: I'm kinda jealous of the mommas out there who devote time to figuring out ways to save money on groceries and household items for their families. So, I wanna do it, too! Maybe not the extreme couponing you see on TV, but just a little something to help us out.
  • Go Zip Lining: I have never really had a desire to bungee jump or go sky diving, but I totally wanna go zip lining! Preferably over a tropical jungle somewhere. :-)
  • Attend a Red Carpet Event: The Grammys? The Oscars? It really doesn't matter to me. I just want an excuse to wear a dramatic ball gown (oh how I miss the days of proms and homecoming dances) and be surrounded by celebrities. Seems like it would be fun to me!
  • Go on a Disney Cruise: To me, Disneyland is seriously the happiest place on earth. I could live there. So the fact that there is a Disney Cruise to a private island is a MUST on my list of things to do with my fam. Can't wait to take the kiddos some day!
  • Invent Something: You know how I'm pretty much obsessed with discovering my calling in life? Well I've always had a strong feeling that it will have to do with inventing something. Just waiting for that great big idea to pop into my little ole head.
  • Buy a Condo in Hawaii: It's pretty much my favorite place to vacation, so why not?
  • Inspire Others: I hope that my little ole blog can grow to become a place of inspiration for others out there - others who are still trying to find their place in this great big world.
