1. Finish that darn quilt!!! I swear I will never have to quilt again if I don't want to after this month. That baby is getting checked off my Dreams To Do list once and for all. Hopefully by this weekend.
I did it! Well, everything except for the actual quilting part. You can check it out and read more about the process here.2. Visit the local bead store and buy supplies to get started on my jewelry making dreams.
Okay, so this is the task I was stressing about yesterday. Because every weekend this month I have meant to go, but have been sidetracked by other things. I was also stressing because I don't have a crystal clear idea of what I need to get started. BUT, I couldn't let the month go by without accomplishing this task...well kinda. I went today on my lunch break and here's what I left with...
Two measly items. BUT, I spent a lot of time browsing and deciding that the store I was at didn't have everything I needed. So, are you curious about what kind of jewelry I have decided to experiment with??? I am going to explore the bezel set resin jewelry realm. I own a couple of resin bezel necklaces and have seen many people selling personalized pieces online (etsy and stuff). And, I want to try to create my own! So, what you see above is a sample of Ice Resin (it's supposed to be good stuff) and some needle nose jewelry pliers (because I don't have any). Next I am going to find some bezels (i.e. little metal/silver cup thingies that you fill with an image/whatever you want and cover with resin), some chain, and some decorative charms/beads/etc. After I have everything together I will watch a few YouTube vids and be on my merry way to jewelry making happiness. That's what I hope anyway!3. Have a real date with my Hubby. This is sad... since Leila has been born Andy and I have only been out alone maybe twice together. We both still have a hard time leaving Leila on the weekends or week nights since we don't see her much during the week. With our anniversary coming up in a few days I really want to go on a real date with him. Like to a movie! We haven't been to a movie together in two years. :-(
Still haven't been to a movie together in about 2 years. BUT, we did go on three, yes THREE, lunch dates together! Okay, so maybe this wasn't the ideal date situation I had in mind - we didn't get dressed up, we didn't spend more than an hour at lunch, and we didn't do anything else special solo - but, it was better than nothing! The best of our 3 lunch dates was our anniversary lunch. You can look back on that here.So ya see, I did indeed succeed on at least touching these three little Dreams To Do. I say there was a "dash of failure" because I still left about 5-10% of each item incomplete. However, I feel pretty dang good. I'm proud of myself. I am an expert procrastinator who is learning to JUST DO IT. That is why I LOVE LOVE LOVE having this blog. It allows me to put things I truly want to accomplish out there for the world to see and in turn I hold myself accountable for actually accomplishing something. It makes my goals real. It makes it so that I can't just pretend they don't exist. And it makes it so that yes, there is a real possibility that I could fail, but I hate failure, so there is actually an even better chance that I will succeed.
Next up? I want to continue to set short term goals for myself. To get things done a little at a time. July is up next!
Anyone else participate in some good 'ole monthly goal setting? How'd it go?
